The Wink is a labor of love, occasional source of ire and constantly influenced by the toddlywinks in my life- my daughters. There's also the HunkyWink. You'll read all about them as The Wink unfolds. Please feel free to wink back!

I erred.

We go as a family to the farmer's market on Saturday mornings.
We eat organic foods, eschew transfats and HFCS.
We travel on foot and by stroller.
We go to the local coffee shop.
We carpool to work daily.
We own a small business.
We volunteer.
We recycle.

I won't go back.

I'm with you. Living 'locally' can be challenging at times, but it beats WalMart any day.

Have you read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver? It would be right up your alley, I think.

Amen, sister.

And if we're recommending books, how about Nickel and Dimed (Barbara Ehrenreich)?

Well now we'll have to take a vacation. Two books on the list, and I have seen that Kingsolver book at our beloved, long awaited independent bookstore in town...Red Fox Books. I shall go and buy these, let them taunt me on the night stand until I cave and find the time to read.

I never returned to work after Ava died and instead spent my time volunteering.

It was the most humbling experience ever.

This is very close to the mantra I sing to myself every day (though I find myself erring again and again.)

I'm glad you survived Walmart; that was a close one!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
