Ok, back from the trauma of another round of agonizing molar surfacing in the normally-sweet-during-daylight-hours of my twinkle-berry Avery, who turns into a roaring, whailing, thrashing bundle of fury at night. Thank you for your comforting words and pearls of ibuprofen and teething tablet wisdom, alas all that works is the breast, the oh-my-god-I-forgot-how-searingly-hot-the-tenderness-of-my-breasts-during-pregnancy could be.
The girls are napping now and I have been trolling the internet for maternity clothes that do not cost more than our monthly car payment. I popped over to Macy’s, no because I know them for being cheap, but because an ad popped up and I am so bleary eyed at this point I am susceptible to things that would normally go unnoticed. Unfamiliar with the navigation of the site I simply typed “maternity” into the search bar. I had no idea Macy’s could piss me off, but check it out, they did!
Do you think this should have come up?
Did it work? Did you see the category?
JUNIORS
Am I overly hormonal? WTF?
Trendy
Fine.
Missy
Sure, why not?
But Junior?
Come on!
Eek!
Not that you asked… but I'll offer a suggestion for cute clothes cheaper than a car payment ~ the last time I was pregnant, I purchased almost my entire maternity wardrobe in one "lot" on eBay. They were only worn through one pregnancy so they didn't seem used and it took all the guesswork out of shopping. And at less than $5/article … my wallet was as happy as I was. 🙂
Outlet malls are good too…
Blech. Really?
I knew even as I typed the word that you would already have tried Ibuprofen. Sorry for the insensitivity.
Old Navy shirts are big enough right now that they are a stop gap for my SIL….
oh dear….junior maternity pants just gets into a whole show that I am not entirely comfortable with. Dude, old navy has way cute stuff on the cheap.
Oh it's been wa-a-a-y too-o-o-o-o long. No ideas for you, sorry. I'm thinking my Mom made a lot of my maternity tops but that was before people thought pregnant women could have a modicum of fashion sense.
Hmpf!
junior!?!?!
try old navy. . .
Maybe the mean Junior, as in, you are expecting a little junior? No?
I tried.
I should send you my maternity clothes from Elyse. They are sitting in my closet eminating the kind of bad karma that leads to stories that begin, "When Brad's vasectomy sponatneously reconnected…."
I'm gonna' chime in here with the others and second or third (whichever it is) the Old Navy suggestion. Last time I was pregnant, I managed to supplement the husband's shirts that I was wearing with some stuff that was pretty cheap and still decent quality. Enjoy the growing bump!
BTW, simultaneously nursing a toddler and keeping a life safe on the inside?
You get to be President of the Motherhood Brotherhood. I just called it.
Try Kohl's too. I remember them having some nice, reasonably priced stuff.
Molar cutting is the seventh ring of hell. I'm so sorry for the pain it brings…both you and your child. Once they bust through things will be better.
hmm Junior Maternity …. that is just so wrong.
Old Navy has (had) free shipping on maternity clothes … if not it is a mere $5 flat.
So weird.
Like Amy York, I got a lot of my maternity clothes on eBay too.
Ok, I think you are over reacting, but only if you look at it from my point. I deffinately DO NOT support teens getting pregnant, but I myself where JUNIORS clothing, it is the only ones i buy. I was thrilled to find some Junior Maternity clothes. but I'm 20 years old and married. so not all people shopping for junior clothes are underage premarital sex mongruels. lol.
Just an idea–I am 25 and 5'1". I am very petite and even petite adult clothes do not fit right! I have to wear juniors clothes. I am ttc and was excited to see this so that I can get some clothes that will fit!
Anonymous- I think it's fine to have clothes for smaller people, but I genuinely take issue with the term "junior" in this situation. Junior is meant for a specific audience in fashion.
I wish you all the luck in the world conceiving. You should be able to get by for quite some time by sizing up, buying empire waist pieces and using thins like the Bella Band.
I work in retail with clothing specifically in the Junior department. "Junior" is a size! It has absolutely nothing to do with age. If it was in fact age related then why are their 40 year old mothers shopping in this department. It has nothing to do with age. I'm gonna be 22 years old when I give birth to my child and I am having a heck of a time finding maternity clothes to fit. So haveing junior maternity clothing is a great idea. Again don't judge because it says "Junior." If you were in my shoes and many other girls out there you would understand where we are coming from.
